Janie and Jack

Erica recently had the pleasure of photographing some little cuties through a promotion at Janie and Jack.  Back to back 20 minute sessions for the whole day aren’t what we are used to doing, but it was a great time … Continue reading

Happy Birthday Matthew!

We first met Matthew in August of 2011.  He came in to meet us for his first session of his baby plan with a big smile.

It’s hard to believe that was almost a year ago!

Since that first session, Matthew has always brought a super postitive attitude to every session.

He is an extremely happy little boy and such a joy to be around.

It is impossible to not love his adorable smile and those blue eyes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATTHEW!

Thanks for letting us watch you grow up!

Happy Mother’s Day 2012!

Spring time Girls

Our April theme is all things Spring.  Our April clients will enjoy using our springtime tissue paper flowers in their photo sessions, as well as the beautiful flowers surrounding our studio.

Six year old Harper and one year old Skyler have already made it in for their Spring sessions.  They brought their adorable Easter dresses along and gave us some great Spring images to share with you.

March = Balloons!

We have decided that the month of March is for balloons!

We are determined to use a balloon, or many balloons, in each of our March photography sessions.  We can’t wait to share all of our exciting ideas and fun balloons with our clients.  We plan to give balloons to babies, children, high school seniors, adults, brides, families, and everyone else!  Oh man, this is going to be so much fun!

Since we haven’t taken any balloon photos yet, here are a few ideas we found on Pinterest.

We can’t wait to share our own balloon images with you!

We still have a few March sessions available.  All you have to do is schedule an appointment and show up with a smile!

Can’t wait to see you with a balloon!

Photo Perfect Baby Basket

At Erica Salmon Photography, we love props!

We are constantly looking for, buying, creating, and using props in our photography studio.

Recently, we photographed handsome Leland Oesterling in this comfy basket during his 3 Month session.

Leland is no stranger to this awesome basket.  He was photographed in it as a newborn also.

This basket is one of our favorite baby props.  We enjoy the versatility offered by it.  We have photographed other babies in the basket also and we manage to get a fresh new image every time it is used.

Our basket is just one of the many, many props we have in our studio.  We strive to always keep useful, photo-perfect props on hand to ensure we always create a one-of-a-kind image.

Thank you for reading!

Happy Birthday Girls

We recently had the pleasure of photographing two adorable 1 year old little ladies.  These girls have been ESP clients since they were newborns!  Talk about loyal customers!  Their mothers took advantage of our baby plan.  We even had the pleasure of capturing maternity images of their beautiful Mommy’s before they were born.

To help celebrate this amazing time in their life’s, we got these precious girls birthday cakes for their 1 Year photo shoots.  I bet you can imagine what happened, but just in case you can’t…

It has truly been a pleasure watching these darlings grow up.  We hope to continue as their photographer for many more years to come.

Happy Birthday Girls!

January Prop Project: Wooden crate

We are always in search of interesting new props for our photo sessions.  Recently, we spotted some wooden crates that had been painted to look sort of rustic.  The crates were being used in Newborn sessions.  Amazingly, we just happened to have a spare unpainted wooden crate lying around.  Viola!  Just like that, inspiration was born!  We were going to make our own version.

Here’s what we did…

Before we start, it should be noted the following images are of two different crates that were completed using the exact same process.

First, the wooden crate had to be sanded.  This was a very important and time consuming step.  We didn’t want uneven surfaces to snag our baby.

After sanding, we painted the crate brown using 2 coats of a semi-gloss paint.

Once the brown paint had thoroughly dried, we haphazardly painted the box with a red semi-gloss paint.  The key here was to lightly brush the paint on, while at the same time allowing for some more concentrated brush strokes occasionally.

When the red paint had dried, it seemed we needed to tone down the red a little.  We used a mixture of water and brown paint to lightly glaze the entire crate.  Almost immediately after applying the “glaze”, we lightly wiped it off with paper towel, leaving just a tint of brown on top of the red.

After the crate was completly dry, we put a baby in it!

Baby Matthew Burke really seemed to enjoy it.
